Simulation, the Heart and Soul of Preoperative Planning
For this article, I spoke to pediatric cardiovascular surgeon and Boston Children’s Hospital Cardiovascular 3D Modeling and Simulation Program co-director, Dr. David Hoganson. Dr. Hoganson explained how he and his team use simulation to create and institutionalize a standard of preoperative planning using 3D simulation tools so surgeons can have multiple types of visualization and prediction before entering the operating room.
